Securing Kenya’s Future: Emerging Threats and Strategic Solutions for National and Regional Peace and Stability

Vol. 3 No. 1 (2025)

This issue (Volume 3, Issue 1) focuses on the theme “Securing Kenya’s Future: Emerging Threats and Strategic Solutions for National and Regional Peace and Stability.” In these pages, contributors examine a wide range of pressing topics—from the link between regional integration and economic security within the East African Community to the effects of climate shocks on conflict dynamics in Laikipia County—painting a picture of security as an inherently cross-border, multi-sectoral challenge. The articles not only chart the problems but also propose practical, innovative responses: analyses of systemic inequities in pretrial justice; studies on the strategic implications of hybrid-warfare threats; assessments of health-system resilience with lessons drawn from Kenya’s COVID-19 response; and community-level research on how faith-based organisations can help address youth unemployment and curb radicalisation. Together, the pieces underline the need for integrated strategies—combining institutional reform, regional cooperation, and grassroots engagement—to build sustainable peace and resilience across Kenya and the wider region.

Navigating Conflict, Security, and Governance in Africa: Multiagency Approaches, Emerging Threats, and Sustainable Solutions

Vol. 2 No. 2 (2024)

This Volume 2, Issue 2 (2024), themed “Navigating Conflict, Security, and Governance in Africa: Multiagency Approaches, Emerging Threats, and Sustainable Solutions,” offers incisive analyses across diverse domains. Contributions dissect the efficacy of multiagency approaches in mitigating Laikipia County’s resource conflicts, assess suicide drones’ transformative impact on asymmetric warfare, and evaluate UNPOL’s peacekeeping roles in fragile states like the DRC and South Sudan. The nexus between maritime security and Kenya’s blue economy and consultants’ influence on Nairobi’s construction safety standards are critically examined, alongside peacemaking complexities drawn from Somalia’s protracted crises. The edition further probes cross-border conflicts’ ramifications on Narok’s food security, optimal leadership models for multiagency emergency coordination, and strategies to counter Kenya’s counterfeit economy. Geopolitical dimensions are explored through Eastern DRC’s resource-driven conflicts, youth movements’ governance implications, and a strategic framework for India’s economic security in Africa.
